Lateral elbow tendinopathy, commonly referred to as tennis elbow, is a common condition impacting active individuals and those in physically demanding occupations. Dunning et al1 recently published a study investigating the addition of electrical dry needling and thrust manipulation into a multimodal physical therapy care approach consisting of exercise, joint mobilization, and ultrasound.
The authors found significantly greater improvements in pain intensity, disability, and function favoring the group receiving electrical dry needling and thrust manipulation combined with a typical multimodal physical therapy approach. The between group effect size was large in favor of the electrical dry needling and thrust manipulation interventions.
All of our physical therapists at RISE have received advanced training in thrust manipulation and dry needling techniques. Schedule an appointment today if you live in the Denver area and are dealing with tennis elbow to get back on track enjoying your favorite activities without pain!
