Field Sport Screen

Who: Field athletes, including soccer, football, rugby, and lacrosse players, as well as anyone looking to enhance performance and prevent injuries in sports that involve cutting, changes of direction, and jumping, with or without contact. Our assessment will be tailored to your specific goals, athletic background, skill level, and injury history.

Additionally, this assessment is ideal for athletes who are returning to sport post surgery and have achieved full range of motion, and most strength but are unsure about sport specific movements and readiness to safely return. We commonly perform this assessment for patients following ACL reconstruction, meniscus repairs, ankle ligament reconstructions, rotator cuff and glenohumeral labral repairs, femoralacetabular debridements and FAI reconstructions.

What: A comprehensive physical therapy assessment focused on movement, mobility, and strength specific to field sports. We will employ objective testing tools to test muscle performance in isolation and in functional sport specific movement patterns. The test includes closed chain and open chain upper extremity and lower extremity isometric strength measurements, muscle power assessments, dynamic single leg rapid movements, and jump testing. We utilize evidence-based return to sport and assessment protocols to pinpoint key areas for improvement, helping you achieve peak performance while minimizing injury risk.

Why: This screening is essential for identifying readiness to return to sport, areas for development, ways to decrease injury risk, and enhancing overall athletic performance. Participants will receive a personalized report with customized exercise recommendations and strategies to optimize training and maintain health throughout the season. Additionally, participants will receive individualized guidance on return-to-sport timelines based on their performance, competition schedule, and post-operative recovery. Upon request, we are happy to coordinate and share our testing results with surgical teams, coaches, and training staff.
